We decided just to stick with the bayou and focus on bass today and I am so glad we did. We got on the the water around 9 and idled out from the Main St. boat launch then shut it down. Fish were busting everywhere so we started cranking our crankbaits deep but no takers. We started trolling up a cut and found bass gorging themselves on shad and was hitting our crankbaits about every other cast. Had our limit in no time and then was able to cull about 9 out for a bigger stringer. Water was about 58 deg. and then warmed up to about 63 deg. by the time we finished out. My buddy put on his Alabama rig and hauled in some to finish out the cull. First time we have ever made our limit since we have started fishing together about 2 yrs. ago and man was that a good feeling. First time we fished Lacombe, usually fish the Tangipahoa and Bedico and usally do ok but never like this. Ended up taking a boat ride down the Bayou to the mouth since I really never ran the motor any when we first started fishing. I think the moral of the story was we were at the right place at the right time and was throwing baits close to what they were eating. -benfishing 11/15/12
