Mr Floyd (grease monkey) and I decided to make a post frontal bass trip out to lacombe today to try a few of my old spots. we took along the camera also just in case we were able to get on something solid, and I'm glad we did. we launched at main street at daylight and were greeted with 39 degree air temps and a high blue bird sky. we had an east wind at about 5-10 mph and a 1.5 ft low tide. we headed out to one of my old wintering spots for bass and at first it looked grim. we only caught 2 bass in the first 20 mins or so (this spot usually produces fast & big numbers for me during the coldest weather). I decided to make a run for another spot not wanting to waste any of the morning. we pull up to my second spot and BAM! I catch a nice chunker on my first cast. not long after Mr Floyd catches another one, then we double up twice. I knew we were on a good quality school of nice sized bass. while we were fishing putting fish after fish in the boat we hear a blow up on a sea wall not far away. I watch a bass nearly crush a 6 in mullet near the surface. I figure it was a 3 lbs class fish or so. mr Floyd throws and KAWHAM!!!!!!!!! his rod doubles up!!!!! I look up to see the fish jump and I immediately know its a good fish. I scurry back to the back of the boat to lip it for him and as the fish comes near the surface I lip the fish and pull up a really nice 5 lbs bass. you guys should have seen the look on Mr Floyds face lol ( he looked like an excited kid the morning of Christmas after getting the present he had been begging for lol) it was an awesome experience. It felt really good for me to get Mr Floyd on some good numbers and to get him his biggest bass so far!!!!! I think I was just as excited as he was. we continued to catch bass after that for a while with some 2 lbers or so mixed in. we ended the day with 30 to 35 good bass. our biggest 5 went about 11 lbs or so with a 5 lb kicker to boot. Iot too bad for post frontal conditions and 39 degree weather. I have included a video below. -RonaldPierre 10/7/12
