Made a quick evening trip after work today. launched at T-Rivers and fished our way down the canal. The wind was unreal. 15-20 mph. Fished surface lures but wind was just to hard. Switched over to plastic worms on the bottom with no results. We made our way down further to where the big pond is on the right guarded by pylons and picked up a bass there on a rattle trap. We noticed bait running on the surface there. Moved further down the canal where the tree line began. Bait was being chased on the surface more and more as it got later and we picked up a few more on crank baits casting into the middle of the canal where the surface action was. This place looks very promising and I am glad I checked it out. It was overcast with a high of 75. Couldn't tell what the tides where due to the vicious wind
went down to the river a few days ago before this front moved in , water was high and muddy from all of the rain, water temp was around 65/66 degrees . fished mainly back water spawning areas with a white 3/8 oz strike king premier plus spinner bait, and a 3/16 oz black and blue eakins finesse jig with a sapphire blue trailer, i used the spinnerbait mainly as a search bait for male bass up shallow the bass were short striking the spinnerbait and i would follow up with the finesse jig. ended the day with about 15 to 20 released to fight another day , best 5 went about 6.5 to 7 lbs....hope this helps if your in the area
Made a quick trip out to Lake Ramsey today after work with the kids. Rigged everyone up with corks and jigs. Second cast my youngest screams "dad I got one!" and sure enough a sac-a-lait. She had a blue and white jig and was popping as best a 3 year old can I guess. I started getting a lot of hits on my split tail green and black jig and the action was pretty steady. We were only out there about 3 hours and had to pack it in because we couldn't see our corks in the dark. All in all we ended up with 9 average sized Sac's.
First and foremost I was invited to Lake Ramsey today, a private lake community. I got there around 3:30 and my kids were using shiners, my oldest son caught a small bass, and a couple perch. I put on a ZOOM watermelon red 6" lizard and threw under a dock where I was told a Christmas tree was sunk. First cast, Bam about a solid 2lb Female bass so I released her. A bunch more cast and that was it so we packed up and went to a new spot (sorry I can not tell ya"ll where) I kept casting in this one spot because I kept getting "hit" when it would cross. I figured it was a bass on a bed, you know how they really don't eat they just move it off the beds, I couldn't set the hook. I moved to a different spot and pulled a nice 3ish pounder out, boy that felt good. As the day wore on I switched over to Sac a Lait fishing. After about 20 minutes of nothing this old man pulled up and said "They here yet?" I asked about what kind and he said "Sac a lait." I told him we haven't caught any and he said "hold on I will tell you if they are here or not." His first cast, sac a lait,... 2nd, a sac a lait,... 3rd, a sac a lait. I was like hold on, I cast by him and wouldn't you know it, "they showed up." They were all hand size nothing big, so we moved down a little ways and that's where the"Slabs" were. We had to leave cause it is a school night and the fish didn't start biting until 6:15, so another words we left 'em biting, but not for long, I will be back.

Short trip today out of Big John's Galveztown landing. Caught 3 on watermelon brushhogs. Tried spinnerbait hard but nothing. River was high but water clarity wasn't bad. Not sure why I couldn't get on them but nice to be out.
ok, here is the scoop i decided to test out my new gear on the amite river closer to the house...arrived to find the water high and muddy. i had cloudy skies with a light drizzle air temp was around 60 degrees water temp was 58/60 degrees and moving pretty good. i started near the launch in a back water where the water was slack and looked stable i scored 3 decent bass early and missed 3 or 4 more on a chartreuse war eagle 3/8 oz spinnerbait (slow rolled). bite slowed some and decided to run and gun a few of my key spots to see if i could find clear water( no go on the clear water ) every where i looked the water was like coffee. in between running around i managed to pick up a few on some of my new baits. on the way back to the launch i decided to try my first spot to see if they replenished ....on my first 6 cast i landed 5 chunky bass and missed 1 so i stayed and picked the area apart with spinnerbaits and flipping creature baits to cypress i ended the day with about 15 or so bass and a bunch of missed opportunities. if i would have stayed in my first spot rather than run and gun i would have definitely did better. like the old saying '' never leave fish to go find fish'' lol anyways hope this helps
Found a nice public pond I fish to see the behavior of the bass and what their biting on. Caught 7 half pounder sized bass after school and was out of there quick enough to make my 5:30 practice.
I had originally planned to go to my 35 acre pond and sink my christmas trees for some future Sac-a-alit fishing but the water looked to damn inviting not to wet a line. Slightly overcast most of the morning, perfect. A put on my favorite lure, a Bass Assassin, or Kevin Van Damn baby bass super fluke, which I used today. First cast...bam, but I shot my wad too early and missed. I trolled to my favorite part of the lake and bam ,bam back to back catches, both small. A few cast later a nice "head shaker" about 2 lbs. I trolled to a spot where some pads were starting to pop up out the water, I cast on top of one, worked it across the top of the lilly's, when it got to the edge I let it sink and bam two more. A landed a total of six fish, but the sun came out and I had phone troubles soIi put the boat back by the shed and called it a day. Just can't wait till the spawn, I could see the bass on the bottom about 6'-8' deep. The water is still quite chilly though, I would give it about another 3 weeks to a month.
made a trip wed. morning to lacombe for some bass i had cloudy skies the water temp was around 62 degrees and stained i fished some backwater areas looking for spawners ended the day with about 20 or so bass biggest was about 2.5 lbs most were caught on a gene lerew biffle bug in the delta craw color and a strike king kvd 1.5 in the orange belly craw color the fish were really close to cover near wood or rock hope this helps if your in the area .....its classic time as well im heading up to shreveport for the weekend to get my hands on the new tackle and gear...good luck on the water and be safe
