Got up this morning not really with a plan.Started reorganizing my tackle boxes when I get a phone call from a friend, hey dude what you doing?Say not a whole lot, thinking about maybe going fishing.Well he says he's already headed that way and I say I'll be out there soon enough.Hit the river at 10:30am.Slowly make my way down the river and notice about 5 boats on the east side of the river and decide to fish the west side just to stay away from the crowds.Me and my stepson cast 5 times and boat 4 fish, well not a bad start. We begin to work the fish pretty hard then I noticed something, all the boats that were across the river have thier trolling motors on rabbit high and are headed my way. What the heck.Started to refocus on fishing and next thing I know is I hear this kids voice and look around and this guy and his young son are about 6ft from the back of my boat. Now usually I would have said something but being his young son was in his boat I chilled and asked if they were catching anything. His answer was not much so I gave him some Matrix Shad in the creole color and they both start catching fish.Aw what the heck,Atleast I did something good for the day.Back to the fishing, after I got surrounded by at least 4 boats they left in frustration while we continued to boat fish.Another guy and his podna were also putting fish in the boat both by trolling and jigging the trout. We stuck to jigging and were picking up 2 or 3 here and 4 or 5 there.Water was crystal clear and 65 degress. Not a whole lot of tidal movement, just the normal river flow out to the lake.Did notice alot of boats further to the mouth of the river and the few I talked to at the launch did catch fish but had to work hard for them.Fish seemed to be on the move chasing shad balls so you had to find them and stick with them. Most were caught in 10 to 13ft of water. Most fish hit the bait on the fall or after you jigged it hard once and slowly retrieved it back to the boat.Ended the day with two limits,Trout were from 12 to 17 inches, not monsters but good frying fish.Be careful tomorrow, the fog will be dense and the boats on the water just as thick.May go later in the day and try to chase some bass.Good luck to everyone this weekend.
