What is Bayou Battalion? The Bayou Battalion Veteran Fishing Program is a non-profit organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans by offering volunteer fishing trips here in St. Tammany Parish. Our goal is to provide an alternate means of therapy for our wounded returning from combat with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Physical Disabilities. Our volunteers provide them a stress free, non medical environment to interact with others returning from combat and those with previous combat experiences to increase their moral.
How's it work? It's simple! Volunteers are signed up with the Bayou Battalion Program to host fishing trips. Whenever a veteran signs up, they are matched up with the best available boat/angler. Numbers are exchanged and a fishing trip is planned. This allows service members to see just how much they are appreciated and allows our members a way to give back to the soldiers who have defended this great nation.
