The final Liars and Lunkers winter tournament was held January 11th out of Lock One in Pearl River. Teams were allowed to launch on either side of the lock. Six teams decided to fish the river side, despite the river being over flood stage. Five teams launched on the canal side, opting for cleaner water. When the 2:00 PM weigh in rolled around, it was obvious that the canal guys made the right choice. The biggest bass and the biggest stringer of the winter circuit were caught on the canal. Tommy Cooper and Clay Zeringue topped the field with 12.39 pounds. Their sack included the days biggest bass, which was 6.18 pounds. Second place went to another canal fishing team of Joe Picone and CJ Mayeux with 10.05 pounds. The third place team of Wayne Wicker and Ricky Benitez brought back 8.83 pounds from the river side. They also had second place big bass with a 3.04 pounder.
The Liars and Lunkers will kick off their new season on February 22nd at the East Pearl River. For more information, please contact Chad Hartzog at (985) 502-3217.
