The first of four fall and winter bass tournaments was held out of the East Pearl River launch on Highway 90 on Sunday, October 9th. Participants arrived to much anticipated cooler weather and stable river conditions. Most anglers reported that the bite was tough all day long, probably thanks to the post front conditions that had arrived prior to the tournament. Corey Wheat figured out the winning pattern and took top honors with 8.44 pounds. The team of Rodney Teel and Terry Blackmon took second place with 7.86 pounds. They also took home the big bass prize with a 3.55 pounder. Rounding out the top three was Cody Ousley with 7.04 pounds.
The next tournament will be November 13th at the East Pearl River. We'll fish until 2:00 PM and it only costs $40 per boat. For more information, please contact Chad Hartzog at (985) 502-3217.
