The St Tammany Bass Club held it's October tournament on Saturday, October 4th out of Lee's Landing on the Tangipahoa River. The 11 boat field was met with extremely tough conditions, which left most of the anglers doing a lot more fishing than actual catching. The river was in great shape earlier in the week, but the strongest cold front of the year rolled through the area on Friday. The combination of rain, strong winds, and high barometric pressure resulted in a severe case of lockjaw for the bass that inhabit the scenic Tangipahoa. Members reported catching quite a few short fish from areas North of Lee's Landing, all the way down to the lake, but only one limit of keepers was brought to the scales. Judging by the number of shotgun blasts heard all morning, the squirrel hunters faired much better than the fishermen. Results below.
Big bass of the event went to Kevin Williams with a 3.45lb fish.
Our next tournament will be in Venice on Saturday, November 1st. For information on membership, please call Walter or James Clairain at (985) 892-4910.
