For the 2nd Liars and Lunkers winter series event, anglers were met with iced over windshields before heading to the East Pearl. A drop in entries was to be expected with the first real cold front in deer season going on, but 10 teams showed up to bear the cold and fish to win. Freezing conditions and a north wind would make you think the bite would be slow, but many anglers exclaimed catching 40-60 bass and having to cull through them for the quality fish. Both the marsh and river system played factors in the top 3 winning stringers, showing the versatility of these anglers. I was told the reaction baits were getting hammered if you found clean, moving water.
Finding themselves at the top again Trenton Pittman and Chase Damare locked up the win with an impressive 11.47 pound stringer. Mr. John Pichoue stayed with the consistent bite he found and weeded through the small fish to a nice 10.20 pound limit of pearl river largemouths. Following in 3rd place for the day was cousins Timmy and Jared Dickens with a very close weight of 10.05! Great job guys, especially on a super cold day!
