In the predawn darkness of October 8, 2016 31 members of the Florida Parishes Bass Anglers gathered at the Manchac Boat launch waiting on blast off time. The 20 boats of members talked about a tough pre-fishing bite and hoped the 1st cool morning of the year would make the bass feel as energetic as the anglers were. A couple of the anglers checked the Northshorefishingreport.com to see what the wind was blowing at the Causeway as they considered the many options of waterways that was in play for the Manchac tournament. The wind was howling at the ramp making some anglers change their early morning plans and routes up a little as most guys weighed the odds. Extra clothes was pulled of boats and tow trucks as the club began to ready themselves for their boat rides.
The area offered many choices for the club and at the end of the day the winning location proved to be………………..close to the ramp. The winning team of Tony Patti and Derek Allen revealed in their interview that they ran their big motor for a total of 30 seconds before dropping the trolling motor and arriving at their fishing location. Using 2 big fish early the local pair fed off the momentum of 2 3 lbers (one of which was the Mister Twister Big Bass of the Tournament at 3.85 lbs) to stay put and grind out the winning 5 fish limit of 13.17 lbs.

Tony and Derek punched their way to victory in the local mats that have formed around the 51 canal area, culling just one time at 2:45 to give them the extra weight needed to move past the 2nd place team made of the Father and Son combo of Wayne Sr and Wayne Richardson Jr (Lil Wayne). The Father and son team are also local residents with years of experience fishing the waterways around Manchac and they used this knowledge to bring in another huge sack of 13.04 lbs also narrowly missing the big fish with a 3.83 lb beast. The team remained a little tight lipped in the interview not revealing where they ran to due to the Open tournament hosted by us on Oct. 22 but they did reveal the lure they used to make it happen. Watch the YouTube video below to learn something new that may surprise you. Both teams will move into the still young clubs “Top 5 Bags of All Time”.
Another Father and Son team, Jason and Trenton Pittman decided to make the rough run back to water they know well, the Tchefuncte River. They were rewarded with the beating they took crossing the Lake with a 3rd place stringer of 9.02 lbs. The pair reported that Santone spinnerbaits and Mister Twister Poc-it craws and Buzz Bugs supplied their weigh fish for the day during their wrap up interview as well as a topwater to the cheek. The 4th place payout spot was sponsored by Tight Lines Bait & Tackle of Independence. Paul Pallie fishing solo brought in his 5 fish limit of 8.23 lbs to win the cash sponsored spot. The Team of Darren Welch and Ryan Soto claimed the last payout thanks to Louisiana Fish Fry Products. The team brought in a five fish limit for 7.83 lbs to take off the two gift sets of assorted Louisiana Fish Fry Products. Congrats to all the Winners from Manchac!!!!!!!!!!
The coveted Legend Cartography Angler of The Year race is getting hotter as we go into our Fall swing. With two drops it will be a dog fight till the end when we fish our last tournament on the Tchfeuncte River. Forrest Greene and Al Duncan used another solid finish to take over the lead with two left. The legendary duo has been fishing strong the last couple of weeks and sit at the #1 spot with 752 pts. Jean Junuis and John Gillespie hold down the second place spot in a tie with Tommy and Chad Babin with 728 pts. The father and son team of Jason and Trenton are in 3rd with 722 pts. Patrick Engerran and Bailey Madere moved up to 4th place despite motor issues with 676 pts. Barry Galloway holds down the #5 spot with 674 pts. Close all the way down. It will be an exciting finish in the FPBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
