First of all, we want to thank all of our members for making FPBA the fastest growing bass club on the Northshore. We also want to acknowledge all of our new members, we look forward to fishing with all of you at our upcoming events.
The Florida Parishes Bass Anglers held its February tournament on Saturday, February 7th, on Bayou Lacombe, launch site was the Main Street ramp. Weekend weather patterns this winter have been less than ideal for fishing, we seem to be stuck in a cycle of cold fronts blowing through almost every weekend, and last weekend was no exception. This causes tough conditions for both the bass and bass fishermen. Wet fronts bring rains that muddy local waters and dry fronts bring north winds that quickly drop water levels across the Northshore.

As safelight arrived, 30 bundled up competitors began leaving the launch in groups of 5 as their boat numbers were called. Once they arrived at their favorite fishing holes, most found low water levels and stained to muddy conditions. As the morning wore on, it became painfully obvious that the bite was going to happen a little later in the day as air and water temps climbed under bright sunshine. A lot of teams struggled, but a few teams managed to figure out how to put some bass in the boat, results below.
1st Place Wayne Richardson Lee Zachary 5 fish 11.01 lbs 2nd Place Richard Bennett 5 fish 6.13 lbs 3rd Place Derek Paternostro Darren Welch 5 fish 5.70 lbs The Mister Twister Big Bass award goes to Wayne Richardson & Lee Zachary with a pretty 3.79 lb bass. Congratulations to all the winners. Stats for the tournament below.
