With deer season in the books, tournament fishing is in full swing. St. Tammany Bass Club kicked off its season opener on Tchefuncte River. It was great to see old familiar faces and some new ones too as several new club members were added. Anglers were greeted to foggy and cold conditions (so much for a low of 40!) According to my truck thermometer, it was 28 degrees!!! River conditions were even tougher. Reports up and down the river were muddy and low water.
Either of the two are bad enough but put them together and it makes for a long day of fishing. Although no limits were caught, several bass in the 3lb. range were brought to the scales. Our club president, Walter Clairain, got the “W” with 4.41 lbs., 2nd place went to Brandon Fauntleroy with 3.84 lbs., and 3rd place & big bass honors went to Casey Painter with 3.48 lbs. Look forward to seeing everyone at the next tournament!!! |
