After having my fishing trip scrapped because of yesterdays morning monsoons, I was cranked to get on out to the reef. The causeway website said little or no wind. We headed out at first light because I lost my rear navigational light on my last outing. We get to the reef and another boat was pulling up the same time as us. I throw the tolling motor down and JR starts hitting them by the bouy. After he catches 3 in a row I throw him the counter and says you got to stop at 25 or we'll be going home before the sun rises! We start fan casting to see where most of the bites are and found the spot we were looking for! I dropped anchor and started to seriously work them over. The water still a little dirty, 80 degrees surface temperature and an incoming tide. Overcast skies and a light breeze made for a great day to be on the water. Matrix Shrimp Creole and 3/8oz jigs were our bread and butter. Several other boats start showing up and a few had live bait. All boats seemed to be catching a few but most of their attention and comments were directed at us.We tied to explain how the bite was but some people are stuck in their ways. We had fish at least every other cast and a couple doubles. If we would have caught all the fished we hooked up we would have been out of there way to early. As it was we limited out at 7:45am! A good half hour faster than last trip. I got to get me some tags so I can hang around and enjoy this fishing while it lasts. Hope to be out in there again in the morning! -Lemo54 5/24/13
