My dad and I made another run to the bayou by Carr Drive on Wednesday, 12 December. The last few trips have ended early because the trolling motor battery had died from fighting the tide and the wind, and Wednesday was no different. We began around noon, and the battery was drained by 4:30. Water temperature was 51 degrees, and the air temp was considerably less with the wind chill- I stayed just below the point of shivering most of the day- IT WAS COLD! I remember thinking that I would probably be warmer in the water than in the boat- I did not test that hypothesis. The bass would not even look at a spinnerbait today, but they were enchanted with plastic worms. One thing I found interesting was that there was one place where, while we were fishing, two guys appeared on the bank with live shrimp. The interesting part is that we caught six bass on worms in front of them, and they didn't even catch one. I've been in the lake and out-fished, with plastics, my dad using live bait (menhaden), but we both thought the guys with live shrimp were going to pull in one bass after another. Our final count was eighteen. -Danacct 2-14-13
