We decided to make a run this evening to the Tchefuncte since the rain stopped and too wet to work. Freshmex and I put in at the Hwy 22 bridge and headed north. The water was up and dirty. We finally found some cleaner water in a cut on the west side of the river just north of Covington Country Club. We were both pitching a frog (different colors) but nothing. I picked up a kvd 1.5 and put 1 keeper in the boat and 2 throwbacks. Steve switched over to a crank also and he picked up a dink. We move out of that cut and start heading north again. We found another cut on the right. The water was moving fast, but as we worked our way in, Fresh picked up a couple of goggle eye that love frogs. The further we go in the better the water clarity got. I started pitching my frog again and we both picked up a couple more dinks. Then I pitched my frog to a bulkhead with scattered lily pads in front. As I worked the frog away from the pads I got a small slurp then set the hook. This fish didn't sail thru the air like the other ones. As a matter of fact we never saw it until it was next to the boat. I didn't know whether to lip it or swing it in. As it walked across the water, I saw how it was hooked, so a quick heavy flip put this one in the boat! We weighed it right there and it was 5lbs 3oz! By now the sun has set so we make our way back to the ramp. -LSUDeckman 5/23/13
