Made my Monday fishing trip out to the Rigolets.  I had been hearing reports of limits of trout and reds for the past month or so and I figured I need to get in on the fun.  I launched at about 9 am and headed into Lake Catherine with 40 live shrimp and some zoom rainbow shad.  Just a side note; I don't normally fish with live shrimp but this day I figured, why not?  The first spot was Truloix point and it looked good.  The tide was falling very hard at that time so here it was moving just right.  Fishing the deeper water I was catching redfish one after another but they where all too small.  So I started a drift that would bring me into shallow water to see if things would change.  As soon as I started fishing the flat I started picking up trout all 12-15 inches long.  I got about four in the boat quickly and then it seemed to shut down.  I moved into Unknown Pass and it looked like the Mississippi River with the dirty water and current.  My boat maxes out at 39MPH, the Lowrance said I was doing 44MPH.  When I got to Lake Borne I started fishing the bank towards the north and started picking up a few trout where the water was mixing.  This was a slow but steady bite and I put about ten more in the boat here.  Now came the decision time; do I hang out and get a limit or do I go looking for some more hot spots?  I pick option B.  I moved along the shore line of Lake Borne towards the CSX train bridge and I fished a few of the small cuts to how they looked.  They all looked good but I was not catching fish at any of them.  I did not spend a whole lot of time at each one either.  Eventually I got to that little island where the intercostal and the rigolets meet.  There I found a feeding frenzy!  As soon as my cork hit the water I had a fish on.  I was doing good at this spot but got shut down by another boat.  They where about 100 feet away watching me catch fish and I waived them over so they could get in on the fun.  They motored over to where I was casting and dropped anchor right where the fish where holding.  I guess some people can not be helped.  So I left with 24 trout in the boat to go look for one trout and five redfish.  I found number 25 at the south end of the train bridge and a few more I threw back.  Still no keeper reds I started looking.  I fished 4X bayou and found some rat reds and more trout and the same thing in East Double Bayou.  Eventually I just gave up looking for the reds but I know they are out there.

Most fish where caught on the zoom rainbow shad.
