The 6th season of the Bass Assassins is now officially under way.  We kicked off the year with a great turn out of 18 anglers and a beautiful day on Bayou Lacombe.  Its the third weekend in February and the temps were in the 80's.   There was even some good bags brought into the scales despite the tough post frontal conditions.  The fish were really skittish today with the high pressure.  Jimmy Dorris figured out the best pattern however to best the field with a 7 lbs. 14 oz. limit.  Will Henry took home second with a 7 lbs. 6 oz. limit.  Third went to Danny Giovingo with his limit weighing 7 lbs. 4 oz.  Richard Bennett brought in a beautiful 5 lbs. 10 oz. kicker to take home the big fish honors of the day.

Pittman's Win on Tickfaw with help of 7.16 lb. Kicker!

The second tournament of the year for the Florida Parish Bass Anglers turned in to a Big Bass fest on the Tickfaw River.  A warming trend combined with the full moon made for some memorable big fish catches during the day.  Anticipation of the upcoming day was evident due to the club not holding a tournament on the Tickfaw River in the past and the angler’s scattered North, South, East and West as boat numbers were called.  When the 3pm check in rolled around there was talk of big bass in several live wells and as the scales opened several anglers proved to be on the right fish to win.  Below is a rundown of the top four places followed by their total weight:

1st Jason & Trenton Pittman 15.80lbs
2nd Chris Davis & Brett Johnson 12.79lbs
3rd Wayne Richardson & Wayne Richardson Jr 12.12lbs
4th Greg Shelton & Phat Tran 10.40lbs

The Mister Twister Big Bass of the tournament went to Trenton Pittman with a fish weighing in at 7.16lbs and he received a coupon good for tackle of his choice from Mister Twister as well as the cash prize from the tournament.  Trenton’s fish also broke the previous Big Bass record for the club while other big bass were weighed that would normally take the top prize on any given day.  Darrick Neale weighed in a 6.02lbs fish while Wayne Richardson Jr put a 5.85lbs bass on the scale to show everyone that the Tickfaw still had a healthy population of great fish.  All three of those fish as well as the rest of the ones weighed in were released alive back into the river after the scales closed
