The Double Nickel Bass Club fished the East Pearl River and 24 boats showed up to to fish a high river from the recent east winds. In the end it was Ralph Williams who came out in first place with three fish weighing 6.019 pounds. Dave Purrdy came in second place with three fish weighing 5.952 pounds Purrdy also won second place in the big bass division with a 2.877-pound bass.  In third place was James Harris with 4.321 pounds.  Richard Allotto brought in the heaviest bass to win the big bass pot with a took  2.987-pound bass.

The Liars and Lunker's held their second 2023 Fall/Winter Series tournament on the East Pearl River on September 24th. In all, sixteen teams entered the tournament. The fishing seemed to be a little tougher than usual as the overall weights were all lower than expected. Eric Ciko took the win with 9.57 pounds of bass. Second place went to Larry McCarra and David King with 7.15 pounds. Coming in third was James Harris and Chad Hartzog with 6.35 pounds.  The days big bass was a 4.14 pounder, weighed in by Bill and Jimmy Dorris.

FINALLY a break in the heat!!!!  As the anglers gathered for the last Bass Assassins on Bayou Lacombe everyone was greeted by some very mild temps and a breeze that, dare I say, had a very slight chill to it.  This was a very welcome change to the muggy mornings we have been having for so long now.  A total of 12 anglers gathered at the launch ready to get out on the water and do their best to catch some big 'ens.  Troy Ladner was able to catch some of those big 'ens as he brought in a four fish bag that totaled 12.35 lbs. to claim his third win in a row with the Assassins crew.  Troy also took home big fish with a 3.76 lbs. bass.  In second we find a Lacombe native John Seghers with a 6.61 lbs. limit.  John Cahill took home third with a three fish bag totaling 4.25 lbs.
