The Double Nickel Bass Club started their new season with 23 boats at East Pearl. The tidal forecast projected a falling tide during the morning hours, however, the water rose the entire tournament. At blast-off the field broke in all directions with some going north, some heading south, and some even heading west.  In the end it was Jerry Bullock took who came out in first place with a 3-fish tournament limit that weighed 5.985 pounds. Bullock also brought in the big bass of the day with a 2.899-pound fish. In second place was Ralph Williams with a 3-fish limit of 4.376 pounds. Joe Frierson placed third with 4.244 pounds. Frierson won second place big bass division with 2.612 pounds.

The Liars and Lunker's held their first of five 2023 Fall/Winter Series tournaments at Crawford's Landing on August 27th.  Fifteen teams entered the tournament and found the West Pearl River to be around five and a half feet on the Pearl River gauge when they arrived.  The low river must have turned the fish on as everyone bragged about catching a ton of fish all day.  When the noon weigh in was over, Lewis Ritchie found himself in first place with 10.06 pounds. Second went to CJ Pichon and Rob Roberts with 9.92 pounds. They also took big bass honors with a 3.94 lunker. Taking third were Jimmy and David Howell with 9.29 pounds.  

With the extreme temps. Lately it's been tough on fishermen.  Weights have been coming down and it has been difficult to stay out on the water after 9am.  A small crowd of six anglers gathered at the Menetre Park Boat Launch on the shores of the Tchefuncte River for the last Bass Assassins tournament.  Troy Ladner brought in a limit that weighed 5.75 lbs. to take home first place.  Right behind him in second we find Chris Basey with 3 fish that totaled 5.43 lbs.  Chris also had the big bass of the day which was a 3.90 pounder.
