This past Sunday the Bass Assassins gathered at the new Foggy Waters Marina on Bayou Liberty.  This place is coming along great with a huge parking lot, two ramps, and plenty of staging area.  This is a great change from how it used to be.  The weather was clear and hot with a side of hotter.  The water was low and the tide was falling until mid morning.  Eighteen anglers showed up to battle each other as well as the heat.  Devin Artigue brough in an impressive 8.47 lbs. limit to claim first place.  Devin's limit was ancored by the biggest fish of the day which was a beautiful 3.40 lbs. bass.  

The 2023 Liars and Lunker's Spring/Summer Series wrapped up on July 30th with the season ending classic tournament out of Crawford's Landing. The river was finally falling and despite the heat, lots of big bass were weighed in. Timmy Dickens took the victory with 10.49 pounds. Eric Ciko and Ryan Howard took second place with 10.15 pounds. Third place went to James Harris and Chad Hartzog with 9.49 pounds. They also had the days biggest bass, which top the scales at 4.56 pounds.

​In the early morning hours of last Sunday anglers gathered at the East Pearl launch for the Bass Assassins tournament.  The East Pearl was low with an incoming tide, and the West Pearl was on the rise.  One by one the fifteen anglers and one youngster took off in all directions as I called out their numbers.  The forecast for the day was for clouds all day with a possibility of rain.  Well we saw none of that.  It turned out to be a clear and very hot day on the water.  As everyone started to creep back in at noon, tough fishing was the talk around the scales.  This was further solidified as folks brought up their bags to be weighed in.  Despite the tough conditions Bill Dorris managed to bring in a 7.86 lbs. limit to claim first as well as a 4.13 lbs. kicker to take home the big fish honors as well.  In second we find Blaine Williams who brought in a 6.29 lbs. limit.
