The Double Nickel Bass Club fished the East Pearl River on Tuesday. Despite the weather forecast of high winds, 26 boats showed up to fish. As the morning wore on the strong winds felt like hurricane winds. Everyone hung in there until the end and as the boats waited to pick up they resembled bobbing corks in the river. In the end it was Barry Lee who took first place with 6.84 pounds. Bill Dorris came in second with a 3-fish bag that weighed 6.32 pounds. Bob Perry came in third place with a 3-fish bag weighing 4.92 pounds. In the big bass division, there was another tie. Johnny Ceflu and Barry Lee both caught the big fish that weighed 2.90 pounds.
The Double Nickel Bass Club is holding its next tournament at the East Pearl River on Mar. 12. For more information, please contact Dwain Crumby at 985-502-6006.
