This past Sunday the Bass Assassins held their 9th classic at Lock 1.  The lock canal was very muddy which is uncharacteristic of it.  There were a few areas of cleaner water which were also full of fishermen.  With 18 anglers on a muddy lock it fished very small.  The water temps were hovering right at 60 degrees.  Some areas of the lock the fish were just starting to move up and others there had already been a wave come through.  It was the perfect ( tough ) conditions for the top anglers on the Bass Assassins trail.  Bill Dorris was able to put together a 9 lbs. 13 oz. limit to claim the title of 2023 Bass Assassins Classic Champion.  

The Double Nickel Bass Club started our Spring & Summer series Tuesday morning February 7. There was 27 boats showed up to face exceptional high and muddy water. There was 6 limits out of the 27 boats brought in. Bill Dorris took 1st place with 6.559 lbs and 2nd in big bass with 2.954. Bob Perry took 2nd with 5.666. Mickey Breland took 3rd. with 5.576 but took 1st place with big bass 3.450.
