Seventeen boats left the launch on the East Pearl in the cold brisk morning air. With temperatures warming and the tide falling expectations were high. The morning started out with a lite rain and overcast. Then between 10:00-11:00 a.m. the sun came out for the rest of the day. This seemed to be the time the bite turned on for most of the anglers. Despite the favorable conditions the tale at the scale was less than favorable.

Most anglers struggled to catch fish much less put a limit together. The weights the Pearl had put out weeks prior was not seen this day. Cameron Wagner and Cody Ousley managed to put together a 5 fish limit of 9 pounds 15 ounces to take first place. Just a half a pound behind in second place was Rodney Teel and Terry Blackman with a 5 fish limit of 9 pounds 6 ounces. Barely making a limit by the end of the day finishing in third place was Steven Franatovich and Drake Faberes with a 5 fish limit of 8 pounds 8 ounces. Finishing in fourth place with a 5 fish limit of 8 pounds 3 ounces was Paul Paille. Big Bass for the day weighing 2 pounds 15 ounces went to Morgan Schutte and Phil Schutte. Congratulations to all our winners this month.
Next months tournament will be held in Caernarvon on February 17th. I want to thank everyone for showing up. It was great to see everyone again and also meeting the new anglers who haven't fished with the Southern Bass Anglers before. Hope to see everyone next month.
