It was a nice cool morning with a light breeze as 17 boats fished the Double Nickel Tournament on the East Pearl River. The incoming tide was the main topic of discussion at the weigh-in as everyone talked about the day. When the fish hit the scales it was CJ Mayeux who brought in the heaviest bag with 3 fish weighing 6.79 pounds. Ralph Williams came in second place with a 3-fish limit that weighed 6.37 pounds. Dwain Crumby placed third with his 6.18-pound limit.  C J Mayeux and Dwain Crumby both brought in a bass weighing 3.18 pounds which tied for the big bass pot. 

On Sunday August 25th,2024 the Liars and Lunkers crew kicked off their first event of the fall/winter series with 10 teams signing up. An overcast and rainy morning greeted everyone at the East Pearl launch prior to blast off alongside a very high tide in some areas as well as the lowest water levels we've seen this year on some of the surrounding rivers north of the tide range. Taking home top honors was the father and son duo of Phil and Morgan Schutte with a 5 fish limit weighing 11lbs. 10oz. as well as the day's big bass at 4lbs. 11oz.

​Taking home 2nd place was the team of Kevin Bovia and Mark Cole with  9lbs. 7oz. Finishing out the top 3 was Skip Rayborn fishing solo with 7lbs. 7oz. 

The Double Nickel (East) had 19 boats show up to fish the East Pearl River. It was a good morning to fish, however, the incoming tide threatened to pose a problem. It didn't stop most of the anglers from catching their limits. In the end it was Bill Dorris who brought in the heaviest limit weighing 7.28 pounds. Dorris also won the big bass pot with a bass weighing 3.38 pounds. In second place was James Harris who brought in a limit that weighed 7.14 pounds. Ralph Dunn took third place with 5.48 pounds.
