Ronald Pierre AOY front runner Jimmy Dorris remains in the lead after event #14 but failed to add any more points to his best 9 finishes for the year. This left an opening for 2nd and 3rd place competitors to close the gap in the AOY points. Jimmy will have to finish 5th place or higher in the last few tournaments to add points to his already stellar year on the Bass Assassins Tournament Trail. Joe Picone is in the hunt for this year’s AOY crown. He had another good finish on the Tchefuncte River Triumph adding an extra 25 points to his best 9 finishes. He only trails front runner Jimmy Dorris by a mere 100 points. Chris Basey remains in 3rd place but is still a threat in the AOY race. He finished 1 place over AOY leader Jimmy Dorris and 3 places over 2nd place Joe Picone in the last event. With the season closing out in the next 2 months Basey is determined not to go down without a fight. We also had 2 big jumps in the AOY points race. Paul Paille got a late start on the Bass Assassins Tournament Trail but managed to catapulted himself from 20th place up to 12th overall with a big win in the Tchefuncte River Triumph. He punched his ticket to the Bass Assassins Classic with his recent win. The other angler who made big moves on the AOY board was Patrick Engerran. He too had a late start on the Bass Assassins Tournament Trail but made a big statement jumping from from 16th place to 8th overall in the AOY race. As he sits now he is qualified for the Bass Assassins Classic. Up next is the Battle on the Bayou on Bayou Liberty where the top 3 AOY anglers are always a threat. I would expect fireworks on Sept. 21st, as this tournament is setting up to be a real slug fest.
