The Double Nickel Bass Club fished Tuesday morning at the East Pearl River. The river was high with an incoming tide. There were 22 boats that showed up to compete for bragging rights and a cash pot. Everyone standing around waiting for takeoff was trying to figure out their strategy for the day. Most of the anglers went south, while the rest headed north. As usual, some found a few fish while others didn't. In the end, it was Guy Stegall who came in first place with three fish weighing 10.70 pounds. Stegall also won the big bass pot with a 4.63-pound fish. Ralph Dunn claimed second place with 5.38 pounds. Chris Stuart took third place with 5.12 pounds. Jerry Bullock claimed second place big bass honors with a 3.17-pound fish.
The Double Nickel Bass Club will hold its next tournament at the East Pearl River on May 20. The club is for those who are above the age of 55. For more information, please call Dwain Crumby at 985-502-6006.
