The river was a little high as 19 anglers fished the Double Nickel tournament at the East Pearl. It was a cool morning with overcast skies. The tide was falling all morning as some boats decided to fish south and some north. In the end, there were a lot of small fish brought in affecting the bag weights. Ralph Dunn took first place with a 3-fish tournament limit weighing 5.08 pounds. In second place was Rob Roberts with a limit that weighed 5.04 pounds. C J Mayeux came in third place with 3 fish weighing 4.70 pounds. Mayeux also won the big fish pot with a bass weighing 2.90 pounds.
The Double Nickel Bass Club (East) is holding its next tournament at the East Pearl River on Sep. 24. For more information, please contact Dwain Crumby at 985-502-6006.
