The St Tammany Bass Club held it's August tournament out of Crawford's Landing on the West Pearl River. To say it was hot would be a huge understatement, but with river levels dropping and waters clearing, the action was almost as hot as the weather. Moving water was key to finding the bite, and several members returned with limits of those hard pulling, current loving Largemouth, mixed with quite a few of their first cousins, the Kentucky or Spotted Bass. As most seasoned river anglers know, Spots are not only the prettier of the two species, they're also far more agressive and a ball to catch. We had a field of 14 members take on the West Pearl, the top 5 places were:
