Dockside’s third event of the season has come and gone and once again Ol’ Mother Nature influenced the event in a major way. To start the morning off, a strong line of thunder storms was passing through the area which had the 18 teams who were willing to brave the conditions awaiting the delayed blast off time. The tournament director Jay Ladner made a great decision by safely delaying by about an hour allotting time for the storm to fully pass through. He then explained to everyone that they would be getting an extended weigh-in time by an hour to offset the delay which was well received by the anglers.
As everyone returned for the 4pm weigh-in, it seemed overall to be a trying day for most. The conditions are always tricky to deal with, but adding a few inches of rain in a short period of time is not favorable on an already swollen river system. With this being said, someone has to go home winning some cash and the following anglers did.
Taking home the third place honors and also extending their lead in the Points race were the team of Toby Cooper and Gary Henries. These guys are on a consistent streak this year and kept it going with a 12.55 lb limit of fish. The Second place team of Alan Coleman and Kevin Simon brought in a really nice limit of 12.69 lbs. which moved them up to take over the third spot in the Points race for the year. Then to top the field was the not so uncommon team of Ross and Reese Watkins. They have now won two Dockside events in a row and are showing no signs of slowing down! They brought in an impressive 15.77 lb. limit of fish besting the nearest team by around three pounds. Big Bass of the event went to Larry Mixon and Scott Burt for a 4.64 lb. big un!
The next event will be May 5th at the Hwy 90 E. Pearl boat launch. Please come join in on the competition with the largest payout on the Northshore!
Power ranking points awarded as follows: Reese and Ross Watkins 18 points each for first place, Alan Coleman and Kevin Simon 9 points each for second place, and Toby Cooper and Gary Henries 4.5 points each for third place. Congratulations to all the anglers in the top three places of this event!
