Liars and Lunkers held their third tournament of the season on Sunday April 28th, 2024 on what had to be the windiest day of the year on the mighty East Pearl. Anglers faced sustained winds of 25+ mph with gusts up to 35mph almost all day long other than a very brief period first thing in the morning. The pearl was falling hard but the winds were pushing tidal water right back up the river causing some adverse conditions to say the least. At the 12 o'clock weigh in all anglers got to see how the weather affected mostly everyone. Taking home 1st place honors was the team of Tyler Allgood and Steele Sessions with a solid 10.24 lb bag.

2nd place went to Mark Mohr with 8.24 pounds. Finishing in 3rd place was Kendal Martin and Michael Blackwell with 6.41 pounds. Big Bass of the tournament went to the team of John Andrews and Scott Mitchell with a nice 3.05 on a tough day.

-A group of 22 anglers gathered at the East Pearl River to fish the Double Nickel East tournament. Anglers enjoyed nice weather and the gnats were kept under control due to the breeze on the water. At blast off half the boats went north and half went south. In the end it was Rob Roberts who took first place with a 3fish limit of 9.10 pounds. Roberts also won second place in the big bass division with a 4.32-pound fish.  Bill Dorris came in second place with 6.76 pounds.  C J  Pichon came in third place with 6.19 pounds. Pichon also won the big fish pot with a 4.43-pound fish.

The Double Nickel Bass Club (East) is holding its next tournament at the East Pearl River on May 7. For more information, please contact Dwain Crumby at 985-502-6006.

An unusually cool misty morning was what greeted the 20 anglers who showed up to fish Lock 1 tournament this past Sunday.  An approaching front was bringing in rain early in the morning with clearing skies for the weigh in.  Wind was also an element that everyone had to deal with all day.  The canal was still slightly stained from the large amounts of rain that fell a week before. With the approaching front everyone was talking at the weigh in about how good the fishing was with lots of fish caught just no size to them.  Eric Ciko figured out how to catch the bigger ones to put together a 9.66 lbs. limit to clain 1st place.  Eric also brought in the biggest fish of the day which was a solid 2.95 lbs. bass.  In second we find Chris Basey with a 7.68 lbs. limit.  Andy Adams ended up in third with his limit totaling 6.98 lbs.  Rounding up the top four we find John Cahill with a 6.81 lbs. limit.
