It was a chilly start to the Bass Assassins 2024 season.  Leading up to the season opener on Bayou Lacombe everything was looking good and it looked like it was going to be a slug fest.  Then in typical Louisiana fashion for the few days before the tournament it was cold and rainy throwing everyone for a loop.  Despite the tough conditions we had 22 anglers show up to do battle.  At the end of the day Kerry Terrebonne breezed into the top spot with a 12.55 lbs. limit and a 5.22 lbs. kicker which also awarded him big fish of the day.

It was a cool morning at the East Pearl River as the Double Nickel as 22 boats showed up to fish the event. The water was very low at the launch and some anglers joked around saying, "Maybe I should have brought some water so I could launch my boat." Although the tide was extremely low there was some clean water in some areas.  In the end, Jason Lee took first place with 3 fish weighing 6.88 pounds. Lee also won the big bass pot with a bass that weighed 4.08 pounds. James Harris took second place with a 3-fish limit that weighed 6.42 pounds. Third place went to Terry Lott who hung a limit of 6.02 pounds.  C J Mayeux won second place big bass with 3.24 pounds.

The Double Nickel Bass Club fished the East Pearl River on Tuesday. 19 boats showed up and faced a brisk north wind. The wind made for an extra low tide but everyone was able to find clean water coming out of the drains mixing at the mouth of the main river. At the weigh-in, everyone was complaining about the weather but stayed optimistic by telling eachother that it will be better for the next tournament. In the end it was
Guy Steigall who came in first place with 8.565 pounds. Terry Lott came in second place with 8.201 pounds. Lott also won the big fish pot with a bass that weighed 5.126 pounds.   Tommy Watkins took third place with 6.760 pounds.
